10 Ways to Self Love…
As we begin the week basking in all things LOVE, I wanted to take the time to bring attention to the ones that could use the most love, the most important kind of love, SELF LOVE. It is crucial that we shower ourselves with endless amounts of love and affection. If we don’t practice loving ourselves how are we supposed to show others how to love us. How are we supposed to function as our healthiest and happiest selves? Check out my short list of ways to self love…
#1. ME TIME…Not some you, not some us, not some we but some ME time…
Take a few minutes for yourself each day. 10-30 minutes of solitude and quiet can do wonders for your peace of mind. Power resides in a calm head. Take some time to maintain your mental power each day.
#2. TREAT YOURSELF DONT CHEAT YOURSELF…
Flowers can cost as little as 4.99 at Trader Joes. Buy yourself flowers while you are still around to smell them. A beautiful bouquet of flowers can bring a bit of brightness to the brightest of days. Fellas need “me treats” too and plants are just as rewarding as flowers, do your self a favor and give a plant a home while making yourself feel special.
#3.DATE NIGHT is NOT just for the DATING…
Date your damn self! Even if you have a significant other, take the time to take yourself out. A walk in the park after a nice high top lunch with a glass of wine at a cozy bistro is a very rewarding way to say, “Hey Self, I love you and I enjoy spending time with you”.
#4. Like NIKE says JUST DO IT…
Buy the shoes or the new flat screen. WHY NOT? Live within your means but by all means by yourself that me gift you’ve been eyeballing. If not you, then who?
#5. Adios, Syonara, GOODBYE…
Take a trip. Book a flight. Rent a car. Catch a bus… There are way to many ways to travel for the low in this new day in age. What better way to love yourself then to take a trip to a new destination? Pack your favorite over night bag, book an air bnb and create some new memories.
#6. TOUCH ME…
Get your hair, feet, nails and/or eyebrows done. Allow someone to pamper you. Get a massage or facial. A gentle touch is good for healing. Take some time to be touched.
#7. Hulu and DO YOU…(lol poor word play on Netflix and Chill)
Hulu or the Cinema, treat yourself to a favorite movie or a new movie. A good comedy and tasty snacks are wonderful expressions of self love.
#8. Get To know “ME” more often…
Take a new class. learn how to paint or ride a scooter… Allow yourself the space to grow in areas that you may struggle and give yourself the pleasure of learning something new
#9. Leave LOVE NOTES…
There is nothing more rewarding then reading or hearing positive words of affirmation. Leave hand written notes and voice notes around your space and in your phone affirming how amazing you are. Some days a healthy dose of ” You are beautiful and your smile is a gift that keeps on giving” is all you need to make it through.
#10. DANCE like Leroy on the newest episode of FAME…
Dancing is healing. Dance with yourself. Dance to your favorite tune. Dance to the beat of your own drum.
