When I think of the culture I think of Kamal. A descendant of great art, photography and influence; Kamal is the embodiment of Hip Hop culture. As a jack of many trades, his ear for music, eye for photography and word play are all unique to his style as a creative. The influence of his amazingly creative family has transcended into another generation unadulterated talent.
Though I’ve worked with Kamal on various projects for Koolkidnekki.com; this time around I thought it would be kool to feature the creative himself. I took the opportunity during the latest Simply Bold segment to ask the homie some questions about his journey as a creative. It’s been pretty amazing finding out the foundation for such dope art.
Koolkidnekki: What peaked your interest in photography?
Kamal: I think it came from my father’s interest. I don’t remember the specific details. Beyond that, I like capturing moments, making still images, helping to create and hold on to memories.
Koolkidnekki: You’re a dope emcee, do you plan on continuing with music?
Kamal: I do plan to continue music, just on a short hiatus.
Koolkidnekki: What are some projects that you are currently working on?
Kamal: I’m currently building a creative work space/ in-home studio.
Koolkidnekki: What inspires you to create?
Kamal: Good art, great writers, nature, my artistic heroes.
